Grande Prairie Police Service Transition Update
Recruit Training Class #3 (RTC #3) continues to make steady progress through the training program.
Recruiting efforts continue for Experience Officer Program (EOP) #6. The class is scheduled to commence in February of 2026.
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee presented a recommendation to the Commission to accept the Policing Service budget for submission to City Council. Chair Wong presented the budget to City Council on November 10, 2025, with budget deliberations taking place November 25-26th. The City will approve their entire budget on December 8, 2025
Records Management System
The GPPS IT team is proceeding with the adoption of Axon as the Records Management System provider. Initial cost estimates for the RMS and associated Axon support licenses—including implementation and ongoing support—have been prepared. Following successful negotiations, a 10-year contract request has been submitted to City Council for approval to ensure long-term stability and system integration. Deployment of the Axon RMS is scheduled for completion prior to GPPS assuming full jurisdictional policing responsibilities in October 2026.
