Complaints Regarding Grande Prairie Police Service
Effective December 1, 2025, the Government of Alberta implemented the Police Review Commission to investigate complaints about the conduct of police officers.
The Police Review Commission (PRC) is an independent civilian body with the goal of fair and unbiased investigations that hold law enforcement accountable while strengthening public confidence in policing across Alberta.
How To File A Complaint
You can file a complaint by clicking the “Make a complaint” button in the upper right-hand corner of the PRC’s website.
You can also file a complaint by phone: call 780-644-0306 and follow the prompts.
The Police Act has been amended to make the complaint process more accessible, by giving the PRC’s chief executive officer the ability to accept complaints in methods other than in writing.

Please note: Grande Prairie Police Service is not currently the police of jurisdiction any complaints against the services or policies of the RCMP must be pursued through the RCMP or the Grande Prairie Policing Committee Public Complaint Director as outlined below.
Complaints Regarding Municipal Enforcement
Under the Alberta Peace Officer Act, a complaint against a peace officer may be made through the peace officer's authorized employer. To file a complaint against a municipal peace officer in the city of Grande Prairie please call 311 or email.
Complaints Regarding RCMP
Under the Alberta Police Act, the Grande Prairie Policing Committee is responsible for monitoring the public complaints process and assisting with complaints against the Grande Prairie RCMP detachment or members.
