2023 Annual Report
The Commission approved their 2023 Annual Report. The Report will be released in March and presented to Standing Committees in Council Chambers on March 19th with their 3 Year Strategic Plan. Future annual plans will be developed in collaboration with the Grande Prairie Police Service.
Grande Prairie Police Service Transition Update
Reviews are being conducted of Municipal Enforcement Services, Mobile Outreach, and the Public Security Unit with a focus on identifying effectiveness and efficiencies. 3 job postings have been initiated for the police service: experienced constables, experienced non-commissioned officers, and new recruits. A hiring campaign is being developed and should be rolled out in the next few weeks while members continue to raise the service’s profile at job fairs and host Alberta Police Cognitive Ability Test (APCAT) sessions. The transition plan continues to proceed with working groups being re-established to operationalize plans.
Personnel Committee
The Personnel Committee, with a mandate to oversee all matters relating to human resources of the Commission, presented for approval their Committee Terms of Reference and 360 annual review processes for the Chief of Police and their Executive Director. The Commission approved all Personnel Committee submissions.
Police Governance Associations
Commission members will be attending the Alberta Association of Police Governance (AAPG) Annual General Meeting and Conference being held in Lethbridge in May. A great opportunity for learning and connecting with other Commission members from across the province. The Commission renewed their Canadian Association of Police Governance (CAPG) membership for 2024 and are registered for 14 of their webinars being held throughout the year.
